We hope this message finds you well. The Graduate School of North American Studies (GSNAS) at Freie Universität Berlin invites applications for
2 DAAD scholarships of 1,400 EUR per month plus health insurance and a monthly rent subsidyof up top 350 EUR for international applicants* for a duration of four years (2026-2030)
2 doctoral grants with a funding period of one year (1,650 EUR per month, 2026-2027)
as well as up to 7 additional doctoral memberships for candidates who have already obtained third-party funding (starting date: October 1, 2026).
*applicants mustn't have resided in Germany for more than 12 months before the application.
We would greatly appreciate if you could forward this message to prospective candidates who are interested in pursuing a doctoral project in Cultural Studies, Economics, History, Literary Studies, Political Science or Sociology. Only doctoral projects related to the field of North American Studies can be considered. Applicants will be able to submit their applications via our online platform until January 31, 2026 at 23:59 hours GMT (deadline).
